About Janice Nabors Raiteri

Janice Nabors Raiteri I think in ink...in paintings that speak of subtle sensations, revealing themselves. In these distracted times, introspective art is essential. Ideally, my orgastracts entice the viewer to stop, linger, and search. For it is in the stillness of silent conversation that one absorbs the wonderful energy of this world, hears its harmony, and moves with its modulating rhythms. I am now working from my studio in downtown Ste. Genevieve, MO. It's a quiet, beautiful town that's great for a get-away destination (tours of original French and German homes, wineries, festivals, dining, hiking, boutique shopping) and is now a national historical park. Many of my paintings are among the impressive array of artwork at Silver Sycamore Gallery of Fine Art at Third and Market. Stop in and enjoy! BTW -- Hopefully, Ste. Genevieve folks enjoyed my two solo shows (A Million Stories and So Lightly Here) at Gallery Melange. And, just two years ago while living in Lawrence, KS, my paintings graced all three floors of Merchant's Pub and Plate on Mass, as well as "Not Your Grandmother's Flowers" in Phoenix Gallery, "Small Matters" at Seedco Studios, and "Vanishing" at Be Moved Studio. In 2017, I was honored to have two of my paintings adorn the labels of two special editions of Washington state wine (Bunnell Family Cellars). Both were auctioned with the wines for charities in my hometown of Memphis. Speaking of Memphis, in 2014, I was the first artist chosen for the "Artist Spotlight" initiative at Eighty3 in the historic Madison Hotel. Before that, my show, "To Think...In Ink" at Gallery Fifty Six was a vivid burst of color and my paintings brightened the upstairs loft at Harrington Brown Gallery. "Indianola Nights" was my last annual show at Playhouse on the Square and two of my paintings are permanently displayed at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital. In my past art life, I've taken a number of courses at Memphis College of Art, painted for a decade with artist Persi Johnson, and attended many workshops around the country led by nationally acclaimed artists. Over the years, I've enjoyed solo shows, group shows, and gallery representation in Memphis (TN), Portland (OR), Lawrence (KS), Oxford (MS), and now, Ste Genevieve (MO)...in addition to an eye-opening stint as a fine art gallery curator.
