I think in ink...in paintings that speak of subtle sensations, defying words. The colors ebb and flow, evolving organically as they are guided into orgastracts, continually changing, revealing themselves.

They are small reminders that "...the boundaries to which we attach all terms are in constant change...for even the hills are shadows, they flow from form to form, And nothing stands." (Alan Watts)

In these distracted times, introspective art is essential. Ideally, my orgastracts are so mesmerizing and mysterious the viewer has no choice but to stop, smile, and search. For it is in the stillness of silent conversation that one absorbs the wonderful energy of this world, hears its harmony, and moves with its modulating rhythms.

If you missed my latest show in the back of Phoenix Gallery, "Not Your Grandmother's Flowers," go into Phoenix (825 Mass) and look around for some of my smaller works among the beautiful array of local artisan offerings. "Small Matters," a showing of many of my big-small paintings was in the front gallery at Seedco Studios (E 9th and Delaware) for a recent show. And, I am honored to have two of my paintings adorn the labels of a special edition of Washington state wine (Bunnell Family Cellars) to be auctioned for charities in my hometown of Memphis. The next auction will be the annual Brooks Art Gallery Auction on May 20th. It will be quite a gala!

Here in Lawrence, my paintings graced all 3 floors of Merchant's Pub on Mass and will again next September. And, "So Lightly Here" -- a show of recent introspective paintings was on display at Be Moved Studio from May through August. Several of my paintings are permanently displayed in the entry and back room of Be Moved.

Back in Memphis, "Luminosity" was my 2015 show at Circuit Playhouse. In 2014, I was the honored artist in the first "Artist Spotlight" initiative at Eighty3 in the historic Madison Hotel.
Before that, my show, "To Think...In Ink" at Gallery Fifty Six was a vivid burst of color
and my paintings brightened the upstairs loft at Harrington Brown Gallery in east Memphis.
"Indianola Nights" was on display for my annual show at Playhouse on the Square.

In my past, I've taken a number of courses at Memphis College of Art, painted for a decade with artist Persi Johnson, and attended many workshops around the country led by nationally acclaimed artists.
Over the years, I've enjoyed solo shows, group shows, and gallery representation in Memphis (TN), Portland (OR), Lawrence (KS), and Oxford (MS), in addition to an eye-opening stint as a fine art gallery curator.
